Cutting the cord seems to be in popular acceptance nowadays.
We have done this quite a few times years ago. And we have never looked back. I can watch pretty much any show (or movie online) in the comfort of my home.
With that, there's no need to go out of my home. There's no need to drive to the theatre. Or having that worry of (not finding and) getting a parking spot, or finding a good seat in the theatre; or simply wasting too much time just to watch what you want to watch - for a two-hour-show.

And you would not have the urge to leave your seat to answer the call of nature.

There’s the rub. I simply cannot be bothered to watch something that takes a lot of work and hassle to get to.
And more importantly, how expensive and time-consuming it could be. Not to mention, getting gas for my car to drive to the theatre, food to eat inside or after the show, and of course, the ticket so I could watch the movie. All of these things compared to the comfort of my living room seem uncomplicated and easy. TV shows are a dime a dozen, filtering through the plethora of content can be considered a skill and making sure it counts when even five minutes of your time is golden.

This may seem exaggerated. But imagine doing that - paying for cable and not having to find a really good show worth spending your time on. And don’t forget about TV commercials or advertisements.
I think if you’re spending money on cable, it should be ad-free. Because I can watch ads on YouTube for seconds or a minute, tops, but I know it’s free.
I mean, somewhat free, since I have to consider the fact that we still have to pay for the internet and the electric bill. But, other than that, it’s free.
TV is free with over-the-air channels with a good antenna and some D.I.Y. skills of placement and positioning as well as the materials required.
You can do a search on YouTube for almost everything you want to learn about. And find ways how to improve your way of living. But to the best of us, it’s mostly to save time and money. In the digital age, we need to adapt to new media systems that are taking the place of the old modes of delivery.

The shelf space that we have for movies and music somehow remains untouched. Now that we rely on streaming, the selection is greatly improved and somewhat more environmentally friendly.
There is less need for physical space. Unless they are collectibles. That could be the only reason that we buy products that could take up more space in a small living space - we call home.
